Discover how to get the Ultimate Voltia, the best modules, best stats, and more in our weapon build guide for The First Descendant.
The First Descendant’s new major patch includes a brand-new episode Void Chaser which offers new content related to the Void and Colossus and a new main quest. The Void Vessel Investigation Operation is filled with new powerful threats that use Anti-Void Shields and Arche Barriers. Engaging in a combat with such enemies will require more firepower that can chain attack these enemies to defeat them easily.
Fortunately, with this new update, there is also a new Ultimate Weapon called Voltia that precisely does the best job in chain attacking the enemies with Anti-Void Shields and Arche Barriers. Acquiring Voltia and enhancing it with the best Modules will allow you to melt the enemies with shields and barriers like they are nothing. In this build guide for Ultimate Voltia in The First Descendant, we will tell you the best modules for both starters and advanced to make the most out of this weapon.
Best Ultimate Voltia Build Guide in The First Descendant
The new Ultimate Voltia weapon is specifically designed to engage with the new types of enemies that you will encounter in the Void Vessel. One of the main reasons for this weapon being super effective against new enemies is its unique ability. The Chain Current is the unique ability of Voltia and it releases a chain current every 5 shots (Base) that deals damage to Anti-Void Shield and Arche Barriers. Moreover, while the current charge is active, all of Voltia’s attacks will deal damage to the shield.
You can run around with Voltia spamming the beam to activate the ability and eliminate all enemies in a few seconds. This is what makes this gun super effective and no other weapon can deal as much damage to the Anti-Void Shield as Voltia. However, even though it is the perfect weapon for the new episode, it only works the best in Void Vessel. Unfortunately, it isn’t that effective outside of Void Vessel.
- Weapon Type: Ultimate Beam Rifle
- Unique Ability: Chain Current
- Attacks release Chain Current to nearby targets.
- Chain Current deals additional damage to Anti-Void Sheilds and Arche Barriers.
- All of Voltia’s attacks can damage Anti-Void Shields.
- Pros: Every 5 shots (base) will discharge a Chain Current that deals additional damage to targets with Anti-Void Shields and Anti-Arche Shields.
- Cons: Overall the DPS is lower against regular Elites and Bosses outside of Void Vessel.
- Best Characters: Gley, Enzo, Valby, Blair, Sharen
- Best Mods: Rifling Reinforcement, Action and Reaction, Charge Amplification, and Better Concentration.

Best Modules for Ultimate Voltia in The First Descendant
The Rifling Reinforcement, Action and Reaction, Charge Amplification, and Better Concentration are the best modules for the Ultimate Voltia weapon. Rifling Reinforcement will increase the overall Firearm ATK. Action and Reaction will further increase the Firearm ATK and reduce the recoil. These two modules should be your go-to while making a proper build for more damage output. Now, the next essential aspect of this weapon to focus on is the Crit Damage. As it will be on 1.5x by default, you need to increase it.
The best way to increase it is by putting on the Charge Amplification module first to get a further bonus on Firearm ATK with a negative deduction on Critical Damage. Don’t worry, as the next thing that you need to do is to install the Better Concentration for a bonus on Critical Damage. Moreover, you can also install the Better Insight for a Critical Rate bonus. With Better Concentration, the critical damage will now be 1.72x with more firearm ATK than before.

Best Weapon Rolls for Ultimate Voltia in The First Descendant
Now, getting the best weapon rolls for your Voltia weapon can be a challenging task as you cannot farm this weapon by crafting like most of the Ultimate weapons. In the First Descendant, weapon stats are randomly generated for all weapons when they drop or are created via crafting. You can change (or re-roll) them through the “Weapon Readjustment” system. Each weapon has four random traits or options that can be rerolled (another RNG attempt) to find the ideal trait. These traits are random and so is their quality. As you can only get Voltia from the Battle Pass, you must refine your Voltia weapon rolls using the Weapon Readjustment system.
The best weapon rolls for Voltia that you need to aim for are Firearm ATK, Chill ATK, Critical Hit Rate, and Critical Hit Damage. The only reason we are going for the Chill ATK roll is that the enemies that you encounter in Void Vessel are weak against Chill/Frost damage. This is the only reason why we put modules like Chill Enhancement, Supercooled Plasma, and Refrigerate Gunbarrel into Voltia so that we can deal more chill damage to enemies.
Here are the best rolls to look for while Readjusting Voltia in The First Descendant.
- Critical Hit Damage
- Firearm ATK
- Chill ATK
- Critical Hit Rate
How to Upgrade Voltia
To upgrade the Ultimate Voltia weapon, you can increase module capacity, level transmissions weapon to your current level, readjust the weapon traits, or enhance the weapon’s unique ability. The First Descendant provides several different avenues for upgrading and improving your weapons by using their repair station Workbench. The Workbench is located in the same general area as Anais and weapons seller Deslin on the west side of Albion. Below are the various methods for upgrading weapons in the First Descendant:
- Max Capacity UP: Increases the module capacity.
- Level Transmission: Upgrades weapon level to your current level.
- Weapon Readjustment: Changes weapon traits and perks.
- Enhanced Unique Ability: increase ultimate weapons unique effect to max of 5.
Maximum Module Capacity
When upgrading weapon mods, be aware there is an increased cost and a max module capacity of 80. The material needed is Energy Activators, and you will get one of these after playing through the end of the campaign, or you can craft them with Anais. Therefore, you want to balance increasing mods and not attempt to max out everyone. A balanced approach to firearm ATK, critical chance, and critical damage is the best.
Weapon Transmission
Each time you craft an Ultimate weapon in The First Descendant, after collecting it from Anais you will find that it is a low Level 1 firearm. However, you can easily bring it up to your current weapon level by using the Weapon Transmission mechanic at the Workbench. Finally, you will need to reach Mastery Rank 3.
Weapon Readjustment
In The First Descendant, the Weapon Readjustment mechanic allows you to use the Workbench to re-roll your weapon stats. Moreover, you can re-roll all of your stats at once, or lock individual stats you like and only re-roll the ones you want to change. Finally, you will need to reach Master Rank 4 in order to unlock Weapon Readjustment at the Workbench.
Enhance Unique Ability
Each Ultimate weapon in The First Descendant comes with a unique ability that gives it a powerful effect and you can enhance the power of these abilities. This is another mechanic that you will use at the repair station Workbench, and it unlocks at Mastery Rank 5.
However, unlike Weapon Transmission and Weapon Readjustment, there is no unique crafting material you will need to create and use. To enhance Voltia’s unique ability, you will have to get a duplicate. All of Voltia’s duplicates are obtained from the Battle Pass. Then, take that Level 1 duplicate to the Workbench and sacrifice it to upgrade the Chain Current ability to a stronger version.
If you enhance the Chain Current unique ability of Voltia up to three levels, its activation interval will drop to Every 3 Shots instead of 5. It means the Chain Current will initiate a lot more frequently while you are spraying the beam at enemies. Moreover, the chain current will attack 5 targets at a time and the Firearm Damage on both Anti-Void Shield and Arche Barriers will get a bonus of whopping 3,250%.
How To Use Ultimate Voltia
Voltia is an Ultimate Beam Rifle that comes with a relatively low crit rate and a high reload time. The low crit rate can be managed with modules like Better Insight. However, running out of ammo in the middle of a swarm can be an instant death for you while using Voltia as it takes 2.5 seconds to reload the magazine. To tackle this problem, the best method is to use Gley Descendant. With Gley’s Increased Sensory ability, you will get infinite ammunition allowing you to spray the beam at enemies without any worry of running out of ammo from the magazine.
In my opinion, it is the best way to use the Voltia weapon and clear out the swarms of enemies easily in the Void Vessel.
