The Vestigial Organ is a rare Launcher currently considered one of the best heavy weapons in The First Descendant. It can do a ton of damage to packs of enemies and can be very effective against Colossi. Moreover, when paired with the right modules and character build (particularly Gley), you can acquire a nearly unending stream of ammo to shoot.

How to Get Vestigial Organ in The First Descendant

To get the Vestigial Organ in The First Descendant, you will need to grind an Agna Desert zone recon mission called the Vulgus Strategic Outpost Site in the Miragestone area. The Agna Desert is the fifth overworld zone in the game. Therefore, you must play through the main story campaign to unlock access to it. If you are new to the game, and playing with your first character, you will need to fully advance your first Descendant to Level 40 and beat the Dead Bride before you can unlock it.

The best spot to farm the Vestigial Organ in The First Descendant is:

• Agna Desert zone, Miragestone area, Vulgus Strategic Outpost zone recon mission

Furthermore, the Vestigial Organ is a rare launcher that you can only get through random drops. Consequently, you cannot craft it at the Research Institute with Anais.

Best Modules for Vestigial Organ in The First Descendant

Sharpshooter, Defense Master, and Rifling Reinforcment are the best weapon mods for the Vestigial Organ. These three mods are going to give you a strong balance between powerful offense and strong defense. Both Sharpshooter and Rifling Reinforcement will give you a boost for your explosive ATK damage. Moreover, Sharpshooter will also give you a small but helpful increase to your Firearm Critical Hit Rate. Finally, Defense Master gives you a 120% increase to DEF for 10 seconds when you defeat an enemy. It has a 25-second cooldown, but given the rate at which you can kill groups of enemies with this thing, you should be able to trigger this effect whenever it’s available.

Maximum Module Capacity

When upgrading weapon mods, be aware there is an increased cost and a max module capacity of 80. The material needed is Energy Activators, and you will get one of these after playing through the end of the campaign, or you can craft them with Anais. The First Descendant provides several different avenues for upgrading and improving your weapons by using their repair station Workbench. The Workbench is located in the same general area as Anais and weapons seller Deslin on the west side of Albion.

Each time you pick up a dropped weapon as loot, it will have an item level based on the world zone you are in. However, you can easily bring it up to your current weapon level by using the Weapon Transmission mechanic at the Workbench.

Finally, you will need to reach Mastery Rank 3.

  • 2,500 credits/gold
  • 2:30 of research time

To get Superalloy in the First Descendant you will need to dismantle many weapons you don’t want by junking them. This breaks down the weapon into crafting materials you can use to make other items. Consequently, we highly recommend breaking down all of your excess weapons instead of selling them. Credits are easier to earn just by playing the game and completing missions.

Weapon Readjustment

In The First Descendant, the Weapon Readjustment mechanic allows you to use the Workbench to re-roll your weapon stats. Moreover, you can re-roll all of your stats at once, or lock individual stats you like and only re-roll the ones you want to change.

Finally, you will need to reach Master Rank 4 in order to unlock Weapon Readjustment at the Workbench.

How To Use Vestigial Organ

The best way to use the Vestigial Organ in The First Descendant is to equip it to Gley because she has a skill that can completely negate the one massive downside to all launchers.

Increased Sensory allows you not to use ammo when firing your weapons for a short time. When paired with Frenzied, you are buffing your weapon’s damage and gaining free ammo to tear into enemies with. This allows Gley unrivaled boss damage without requiring an intense skill rotation or managing MP use and regeneration. With a high rate of fire, you activate Increased Sensory and hold down the trigger for maximum damage. You want to build in to cooldown and duration with Gley so she can activate this weapon repeatedly.

Additionally, you’ll want to ensure that Gley has the HP Collector Ultimate mod equipped for the best build. The effect of this mod is that when you defeat an enemy, you instantly recover X% of Max HP. There will be a cooldown on this effect, the length of which is determined by how enhanced the mod is. However, this effect should proc often in fights against groups of enemies. It is a massive help for Gley, who has no shields and is powerful but vulnerable in her Frenzied state.
