The First Descendant: How to Get and Open Amorphous Materials Patterns

Amorphous Material Patterns are vital crafting components in The First Descendant, and this guide will cover everything you need to know to get and open these patterns efficiently.

The First Descendant How to Get and Open Amorphous Materials Patterns

Amorphous Materials Patterns in The First Descendant

The Amorphous material patterns are obtained through world missions, strategic outposts, successful infiltrations, and operations. Once you have an Amorphous Material Pattern, you must complete the corresponding Void Intercept Battle or Void Mission. Once used, the Amorphous Material Pattern gives a percentage chance to drop material components like Descendant or weapon blueprints. Essentially, Amorphous Material Patterns are the key to unlocking the best Descendants and Weapons in The First Descendant.

Successful Infiltration

To get amorphous materials patterns, complete strategic outpost zone missions, successful infiltrations, and operations. Below are all the sources of Amorphous Material Patterns in the First Descendant:

Infiltration Operations Terminal: in Albion, these are instanced-based four-player or private missions that take roughly 10-15 minutes. You can see the individual rewards before you hit start the mission. On hard difficulty, the top right will allow you to change different pattern rewards and increase your kill score by taking a variety of debuffs. Having a higher kill score gives you a better pattern drop percentage.

Special Operations Terminal: These operations are instanced, consisting of four players with waves of enemies. Unlike Infiltration Operations, rewards are given in various waves. Each wave reward gives a percentage chance to drop patterns, with an increased reward chance the longer you complete the encounter.

Zone Recon Mission: This is repeatable content found worldwide and takes 2 to 10 minutes to complete. It is the easiest; don’t drop that many patterns unless you complete a successful infiltration.

Successful Infiltration: complete a Zone Recon Mission with Sharen using her Active Camouflage ability stealth to get an additional pattern drop chance. This is one of the best ways to get Amorphous Material Patterns in the First Descendant.

Once you obtain a pattern, the next step is to find how to open it and get a reward drop chance.

How to Open Amorphous Materials Patterns

How to Open Amorphous Materials Patterns - The First Descendant

To open Amorphous Materials Patterns in The First Descendant, locate the Void Intercept boss or Void Mission Enemy Commander corresponding to your Pattern and defeat it. You can only open one Amorphous Materials Pattern per encounter, so expect to repeat many fights to obtain your weapon or descendant blueprint. Additionally, if you accidentally port back to Albion, you will lose your chance to open the Amorphous Materials Patterns. Therefore, make sure to open it after defeating the boss.

Void Intercept Pattern Unlocks: On your world map, in the bottom left corner, you must find and defeat a boss. Before you enter the boss fight, check a green check mark indicating if you have a pattern for the boss.

Void Mission Enemy Commander: found in the world zones, these Enemy Commanders can be summoned via Void Fragments. Once you summon the boss, you must kill them and open your Amorphous Materials Patterns. The difference between Enemey Commanders and Void Intercept bosses is that Void Mission requires Void Fragments to fight, and Void Intercept Bosses can be engaged without any materials. Thus, Enemy Commanders require more farming of Void Fragments, but they are easier to kill.

Shape Stabilizer Forms

Shape Stabilizer Forms - The First Descendant

Players can obtain Shape Stabilizer Forms from Zone Recon Missions or Special Operations. The Shape Stabilizer Forms increase percentage chances on components while decreasing others. This helps increase the likelihood of lower percentage chance patterns. You will likely use these to try to craft ultimate weapons or ultimate defenseman blueprints, which have a 10% drop chance or less. The best way to obtain Shape Stabilizer Forms is by using Sharen and completing successful infiltrations.

How to Farm Amorphous Materials Patterns

The best way to farm Amorphous Material Patterns is by locating your desired blueprint with the access info tab, finding the highest percentage drop, and completing that content. Using Sharen and completing successful infiltrations will likely be the easiest and fastest method. Each blueprint for weapons or descendants has multiple amorphous material patterns that can obtain the blueprint. This means that if you’re trying to obtain the Afterglow blueprint, you can either do Void Intercept or Zone Missions. Likely, the Zone mission using Sharen will be easiest, faster, and simpler than Void Intercept battles.

Additionally, build a Lepic boss killer that can solo most of the Void Intercept Battles. Using Overkill and module for increased damage, Lepic can kill bosses within seconds. Then, you won’t rely on a team or other players when farming a particular boss and pattern.
