What is the release date for Tears of the Kingdom?
First announced as a sequel to the much beloved The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at the E3 convention in 2019, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an upcoming 2023 action-adventure game developed by Nintendo EPD and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch.
In September of 2022 a Nintendo Direct presentation made the announcement that the game would be released on May 12, 2023.
As a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017), Tears of the Kingdom is said to retain many aspects of its predecessor. This will include the vast open-world environment of the land of Hyrule, which will now include the Sky Islands. As the name implies, these are a series of large and small land masses floating at various heights in the atmosphere above Hyrule.
Furthermore, in a rare change from previous titles, Tears of the Kingdom will also serve as a direct continuation of the Breath of the Wild story. Significantly, this is not been something which has happened often in the series.
As with all previous Legend of Zelda titles the character of Link will serve as the main protagonist of the game. He will be joined by Princess Zelda, who will surely play a crucial role. Additionally, beloved characters Riju, Sidon, and Tulin will be returning to lend their assistance. Soon the land of Hyrule will band together to oppose a malevolent force seeking to destroy the world.
