Obsidian Entertainment’s first-person fantasy RPG, Avowed, is set in the mysterious fictional world of Eora. As an envoy of Aedyr, players will journey across the dangerous Living Lands, battling monsters and fighting deadly threats. The Living Lands teem with various enemies and bosses, each posing a serious challenge to your journey. Defeating them drops various valuable items such as crafting materials and weapons.

Additionally, they provide a way to earn skill points, allowing you to form a suitable build. However, these all look fine the first time you defeat the enemies. But what happens on your next visit? Do the enemies and bosses respawn in the area in Avowed? The answer is no—once defeated, enemies and bosses do not respawn in Avowed.

In Avowed, any enemies and bosses you defeat in an area will remain dead and will not respawn when you re-enter or fast-travel to the area. If you revisit a cleared zone, it will appear empty. However, lootable corpses will still remain in place and be marked by an X on the map. While most enemies and bosses won’t respawn in most cases, certain quest-related enemies will respawn endlessly.

This fixed-enemy population has both benefits and drawbacks. Clearing the enemies completely removes them from the Living Lands and ensures the safety of the lands with no more threats. It provides you with safe passage when revisiting an area for any side content, eliminating the trouble of clearing a group of mobs over and over.

However, this also comes with a major drawback, as it prevents players from farming, limiting the opportunity to experiment with diverse playstyles and builds. However, if you die in the middle of combat, the enemies in that specific zone will respawn, and any loot collected before your death will be lost, resetting your progress in that encounter.
