Many players are confused over the exclamation mark, which appears over a companion in Avowed. Here is what it means.
Avowed features a complex companion system, which lets you shape the relationship between the player and the many NPC companions. Your decisions will be the key in deciding whether these companions see you in a positive or negative light.
There is a UI (User Interface) symbol, which has been confusing players recently. This is the exclamation mark. This ‘!’ symbol has been baffling players as it does not go away even after initiating dialogue with said companion. Here is what it represents.
What Does the Exclamation Mark Represent?
This exclamation mark represents that your companions have unspoken dialogue conversations. However, you might still be baffled because the exclamation mark doesn’t go away, even if you talk with your companions.
This is because the exclamation mark conversations can only happen at camps, not at other locations.
How To Initiate These Conversations?
You cannot set up camps anywhere you please. Look for the pink Adra icons. These icons mark camping spots. Simply rest at these spots and talk to your companions.
Doing so, will initiate a conversation with them, where they will talk about your actions during recent events and quests. However, if the marker does not disappear, even after talking, do not worry. Simply talk to them again and again until they exhaust their dialogue.
This should get rid of the exclamation marks, which have been bothering you till now. Voila! You have now learned more about your companions and what they think about you in return.
