Avowed RPG Explained

Avowed Dawnshore Hero Shot

The upcoming 2024 video game, Avowed is an action role-playing video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. It’s the first AAA game developed by Obsidian since the company was bought by Microsoft in 2018. Thus, why Avowed platforms are limited to Xbox and PC. Set in the fantasy world of Eora, first seen in Pillars of Eternity, the story of Avowed will take place in the Living Lands. A “plagued, wild island” large enough to contain several different types of environments.

As the protagonist, the Emperor is sending you to the Living Lands. They have chosen you to investigate a plague infecting the region. Significantly, this mysterious plague appears to not only infect living creatures physically, but it also seems to affect their souls.

Avowed will include real-time combat using magic, weapons, and/or firearms, along with companions to meet and recruit. Obsidian Entertainment is endorsing its ‘all-new first-person combat system’, where you can wield both magic and melee.
