Blue Prince, the rogue-like puzzle exploration game by Dogubomb, has become a huge sensation and is critically acclaimed by everyone. Its unique blending of rogue-like and RNG-based mechanics with puzzle-solving captivates gamers. Besides the Bequest mode (Standard), the game features two other modes to ramp up the difficulty for those who seek more challenge. While the Dare Mode can be challenging, a Curse Mode run takes it a step further and daunts the players.

How To Unlock Curse Mode in Blue Prince
To unlock the Curse Mode, players need to follow a series of actions.
- Start by drafting a Bookshop, which can only be drafted adjacent to the Library.
- Purchase The Curse of Black Bridge from the Bookshop for 40 coins.
- Then, draft the Library and request the book on a new day. Check out the book when it arrives.
- This makes the Cursed Coffers available for purchase at the Mt Holly Gift Shop, which enters the draft pool after you reach Room 46.
- Purchasing the Cursed Coffers from the Gift Shop for 13 coins will permanently add an ominous trunk resembling a small coffin to the Shrine.
- Use a Sledgehammer to open the trunk, and you will find a Cursed Effigy inside.
- Picking up the Effigy makes you cursed while unlocking the Curse Mode.

What Is Curse Mode and How It Works in Blue Prince?
The Curse Mode is one of the three modes in Blue Prince that can be started from a new game file in the Main Menu. In Curse Mode, players start each day with only 13 footsteps, limiting the exploration. Moreover, you will be cursed during the mode, which provides the following debuffs:
- Lose 1 footstep each time you draft a Bedroom
- Lose 1 key each time you draft a Hallway
- Lose 1 gem each time you draft a Green Room
- Lose 1 coin each time you draft a Shop
- Lose all of the above each time you draft a Red Room.
With the red sky, eerie atmospheric tone, and punishing debuffs, the Curse Mode turns Blue Prince into a complete nightmare, even for seasoned players.
