This guide gives weapons, exotics, and armor mods for a Destiny 2 Strand Titan PvP Build, intended for PvP players!
Updated June 19, 2024: Destiny 2: The Final Shape and Update 8.0.0.1 has many crucial changes. The new expansion brings a new subclass, Salvation’s Edge raid, with new weapons and gear, a power level increase, new exotic gear, and – never seen before – exotic class items. Also, the new base game update includes many class and weapon balance changes that influenced the Destiny 2 builds and meta.
Why Should You Play Strand Titan in PvE?
While not the most META choice available, Strand Titan is no slouch in PvP. Suspending targets are powerful, taking them out of combat and making them easy targets. Generating Woven Mail is also very handy, making your entire teams survivability much better.
Strand Titan PvP Pros | Strand Titan PvP Cons |
---|---|
Suspend is ridiculously powerful | Requires owning Lightfall Expansion |
Very High Survivability | Lengthy grind to unlock |
High Ability Uptime |
Strand Titan PvP Playstyle
Berserkers are all about suspending their targets in PvP. Suspension will disorient an enemy, throwing them into the third person and lifting them in the air for a second or two. This allows Strand Titans to have crazy map control and force opponents into situations they would otherwise avoid.
Abilities
Some abilities, aspects and fragments need to be unlocked before use. To do that for Strand subclasses, Destiny 2 players must own the Ligthfall expansion and complete the entire main campaign to access the subclass. Additionally, to unlock Strand grenades, aspects, and fragments, players must buy them from the special vendor, the Pouka Pond, with Strand meditations. The full guide can be FOUND HERE for step-by-step details.
Bladefury – Currently the only option for Strand Super. A powerful roaming option in PvP.
Rally Barricade – Take this over Towering Barricade for the shorter cool down. Its passive benefits are handy as well.
Catapult Lift – This choice really comes down to personal preference. Feel free to flex this out for another lift.
Shackle Grenade – Ridiculously important for the build. This suspends our enemies and the build is built around that.
Frenzied Blade – Currently the only option for Strand Melee Abilities. Not as powerful as other Titan melee’s, but an effective cleanup option.
Aspects
Into the Fray – A nice support fragment for granting survivability to our allies and ourselves.
Drengr’s Lash – A cornerstone of our build. Our build will not work without it. Being able to suspend with our class ability creates a nice suspension loop.
Fragments
Thread of Mind : Allows the generation of class ability energy, feeding our ability to suspend.
Thread of Continuity : Another buff to suspension that is too good to pass up.
Thread of Generation : Allows for generation of grenade ability energy, feeding our ability to suspend.
Thread of Ascent : Since we are throwing grenades often, this is a nice passive benefit.
Weapons Strand Titan PvP Build
The best weapon combination with the Strand Titan PvP Build is an Igneous Hammer and Conditional Finality. Since these provide the best utility for both good close-range and mid-range engagements. Also, the hand cannon and shotgun are among the weapon combinations with the highest skill gaps and are often preferred by veteran players or those participating in high levels of PVP content.
Weapon Combinations
Below are some additional weapon combinations for our Strand Titan PvP Build:
- Hand Cannon & Fusion Rifle – Best for good aimers
- Submachine Gun & Sniper Rifle – Best for aggressive players
- Pulse Rifle and Shotgun – Best for passive players
If you wish to run a different weapon combination, we highly recommend at least running a primary ammo weapon and a special ammo weapon. Running two special weapons will limit your ammo and is not functional. Even though utilizing two primary weapons is doable, you will be at a massive disadvantage due to the strength of special ammo weapons.
Hand Cannon & Fusion Rifle
While not as iconic as the hand cannon and shotgun meta that ruled Destiny 2 for many years, the hand cannon and fusion rifle combo is lethal. You benefit from mid-range engagements with your hand cannon and close-range bursts with your fusion rifle. This combination is potent for guardians who like the high skill gap of hand cannons, and it provides an easier-to-use special weapon with the Fusion Rifle.
Submachine Gun & Sniper Rifle
With close-range and long-range engagements taken care of with this pairing, however, playing very aggressively with this combination is recommended. With a submachine gun, you are lethal at close ranges, allowing you to contest most weapons within short range. A sniper rifle lets you clear a lane and push up towards your enemies.
Pulse Rifle & Shotgun
This pairing allows for both long-range and close-range to be secured. Pulse Rifles can out-range most hand cannons while providing a very easy-to-use weapon, so they work well with more passive players. Shotguns provide one-shot potential when getting rushed by enemy players that push your position.
Exotic Armor
Abeyant Leap – Best Option. Can be obtained at the end of the Lightfall Campaign or dropped in Legendary Lost Sectors. Makes suspending targets so much more effective.
Heart of Inmost Light – Secondary Option. Obtained after completing Step 2 or the “Into the Abyss” Quest from Ikora or dropped in Legendary Lost Sectors. Not as effective as Abeyant Leap, but Heart works with most Titan subclasses effectively.
Armor Stats
The best stats to focus on in our Strand Titan PvP Build are Resilience, discipline, and Strength. Since these provide survivability, they reduce our class ability and super cooldowns.
- Mobility: 20
- Resilience: 100
- Recovery: 50
- Disciple: 100
- Intellect: 40
- Strength: 70
