  • Vocation: Basic Vocation
  • Weapons: Bow and Arrows
  • Primary Statistic: Stamina
  • Available for Pawns: Yes

However, it’s worth noting that you cannot unlock new skills or change your vocation at campfires.

Should you play Archer Vocation (Class) in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Archer is an excellent choice for players who prefer to stay in back lines and deal massive damage from far away. One of the biggest pros of Archer is high damage. As an archer, you will have a ton of mobility and skills to control the battlefield from far away. As a result, you can quickly aid your allies in combat and be the most survive on the battlefield.

It’s worth noting that this doesn’t mean you will stand in one place and never have to worry about incoming damage. Also, one of the class’s weaknesses is low resistance to enemy attacks. You don’t have the survivability of a warrior. As a result, you will most likely need to change your position often.

Additionally, Archer is an excellent Vocation (Class) for your Pawn. In many games, the primary problem for companions is that they don’t avoid damage or stay away from the enemy’s harmful area effects. In Dragon’s Dogma 2, pawns seem to have improved AI and act swiftly and smartly, but it’s not a bad idea to give them a range position so they can deal steady damage and you don’t need to worry about their survival.

How to Play Archer Vocation (Class)

Aim Assist and Battlefield Awareness: Archery requires good battlefield awareness and decent aiming. The game provides players with what looks like soft target-lock aim assistance, but the additional player ability to precisely aim at the enemy will help them make the most of this class.

Rapid succession and Damage per Second: You should try to focus on dealing the most damage in a short window because Archers are known for quick and swift succession of shots. Each individual arrow may not deal much damage, but paired with skills like the Barrage Shot (“Fires arrows in rapid succession”), it not only has very high damage per second but also allows you to take advantage of Archers’ second most significant advantage—movement.

High Movement: Archers have a high movement that helps them survive and control the battlefield. The agile and swift Archer vocation (class) in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can deal damage from afar and target enemies from high positions. Augments like Endurance will significantly increase your stamina passively. At the same time, the Avidity augment helps you to climb up to high ground looking for a better position or even scale foes and other surfaces more quickly.

Party Support and Crowd Control: Thanks to the Exploding Shot (“Fires a loaded arrow that adheres to foes or terrain. The arrow can knock targets off balance.”) weapon skill, you can knock enemies off balance and give your team a moment to regroup or simply eliminate the most dangerous foe. This allows Archers to create opportunities for their allies and support the frontline. You will also be able to hit the target’s otherwise impossible to reach dor melee fighters in the party. Some skills can knocked down from the air weaker enemies, allowing your team to eliminate them fast.

Archer Skills and Augments

Just like all vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, Archer has access to three types of skills:

  • Weapon Skills: Vocation-dependent weapon skills refer to specialized weapon techniques that may differ among various vocations, even if they share the same weapons. ( As such, it is crucial to understand the weapon skills available to your vocation to optimize your combat abilities.) These skills can be executed by pressing the related weapon skill button.
  • Core Skills: Skills that are dependent on a specific weapon can be used by any vocation that has access to it. These skills are performed by pressing the light and heavy attack buttons in a specific order.
  • Augments: Passive trait buffs are earned when leveling a specific vocation. Once unlocked, the augment can be used regardless of the character’s vocation.

As you can see, some of those skills are passive boosts, and some are active abilities used in combat to deal damage and sometimes crowd control the battlefield.

You can have only a few skills per category active simultaneously. With ranks, you unlock skills by using specific vocations in combat as you level up. So some of the skills listed below might not be available to you from the start.
