How to Get a Forager Specialization Tome
You can obtain the Forager Specialization by using the Forager’s Tome, which Malcolm gives you after the Heel of History quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. After finishing the Heel of History quest, head to the Gracious Hand church located in Vernworth Slums during the daytime. Once Malcolm sees you, he will approach and gift you the Forager Tome. This item can be used to activate the Forager Specialization for your pawn.
The Heel of History” is a side quest that is connected to the main storyline. Once you reach Vernworth and meet Captain Brant, he will inform you about a man in prison whom you must set free. However, before you can do that, you must first complete “The Heel of History” quest
Complete The Heel of History
Head to the slums located on the northwest side of Vernworth city and search for a church called Gracious Hand. Outside the church, you will find a person named Kendrick. Offer him some food and give him $1,000 as a token of goodwill. Afterward, speak with him again, and he will give you a quest called “The Heel of History” and explain that a child named Malcolm is missing.
He will ask you to speak with three children in the slums near the church: Harvey, Rick, and Aimee. One of them is inside the Gracious Hand church, and the other is just across the street to the north. The last child can be found looking at the ocean from the destroyed building to the north of the church.
They will give you clues, you will speak with Kendrick, and your investigation will lead you to the nearby stone ruins leading into The Gracious Hand’s Vault. It’s a tower with a hole in the wall next to the church. Go inside to a small dungeon.
The corridors are fairly simple to navigate. You’ll come across Malcolm, who will inform you about a chamber filled with many books and tomes. We suggest you explore this area and delve deeper into the dungeon’s mysteries. This knowledge will be useful later when you attempt to rescue the men from their imprisonment.
After you find Malcolm you will complete the The Heel of History quest.
Get a Forager Specialization Tome from Malcolm
Take a break for a day or two. You can spend your time on the designated benches or in Inns. Then, return to Vernworth’s slums during the day and locate Malcolm near the Gracious Hand church. Once he sees you, he will come up to you and give you the Forager Specialization Tome, which you can use to apply to your pawn.
It’s a random encounter, so some players have a problem with squaring the Forager tome. It helps if you bring Malcolm a few presents like flowers or valuable resources and gems and wait for a few more days.
What is the Forager Specialization
Forager Specialization allows your pawn to mark the locations of resources and enhancement materials on your Dragon’s Dogma map. You will see these as small crystals on the in-game map, and the more you explore with your pawn, the more valuable resources they will mark.
This specialization is good to combine with a Simple personality for your pawn, who is curious, earnest, and adventurous. Most importantly, they enjoy exploring and gathering items. They will gather and search for resources for you.
Specialization Tomes are a one-time use-only item, so ensure it’s the specialization you want to teach your pawn. With this specialization, you can also find pawns in rifts and recruit them to your party.
