The Daitengu is one of the six Yokai you can fight in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. All members of the Yokai are based on monsters from Japanese folklore. To start hunting them, you must first speak with Mamushi at the Hills of Meaning in Yamashiro.

In Japanese folklore, Daitengu are the strongest type of tengu. They reside atop mountains and are often revered as gods by locals. However, they are also feared due to their immense strength and ferocity in battle.

The opponent you will face is a skilled warrior who has fashioned himself to look like a Daitengu. Despite being human, he remains a formidable adversary. Here’s a guide to help you locate and defeat the Daitengu in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The clues you find about Daitengu lead you to Arima Onsen in the Harima region. The onsen is located northeast of Kakogawa Estuary and west of Nishinomiya Shrine.

You can find the target practicing his swings on the eastern side of the onsen. The Daitengu you are looking for wears a red mask and has unruly black hair. He also dons two flags on his back, each engraved with wing motifs.

The Daitengu is a fierce warrior who uses his katana to shower you with attacks. The best way to engage him is by using Naoe to hide and strike. The Daitengu is practicing in an area full of grass, where you can lie prone and crawl towards him. There are crows in the grass and they will alert him, so stay still as he approaches you to check the area.

He has a total of five health chunks, so a one-shot assassination is less likely. However, begin the fight by using assassinate from the grass to make him weaker. He uses a lot of unstoppable attacks, so dodging is very important in this fight. He mostly does sword slashes that can be deflected with a proper parry.

His main attack is a series of four unstoppable slashes, which you can dodge by dashing or running away from him. If you stay too close to the Daitengu, he can also do an unstoppable kick, which he does with quite some force, and send you flying on hit. Exploit any deflectable attack you can to dish out damage and dodge all of his unstoppable damage to defeat him.

Here is a list of loot the Daitengu drops on death in Assassin’s Creed Shadows:

  • Daitengu’s Feather (Epic Katana)
  • Damage with Combo Ender (Engraving)
  • 2 Mastery Points
  • 2000 EXP
  • 345 Mon
