Don’t Swim in the Lava

Longtime players of the Legend of Zelda games will be familiar with the Goron and their affinity for their fiery mountain home. Not being made of rock, Link is obviously more susceptible to spontaneously combusting when he visits the Eldin region.
The Goron need his help, however, and in order to spend an extended time adventuring near fire and lava Link will have to find a way to protect himself.
How to Become Fireproof
Keep in mind that the following methods we suggest will make Link himself fireproof, but NOT his equipment. His shield and weapon will still be susceptible to the intense heat, so make sure to take metal or Zonai equipment into the Goron areas.
Elixirs
In order to produce the fireproof effect through an elixir, you will need these ingredients:
- Monster part (quality or type of item does not seem to increase or reduce the effect)
- Fireproof Lizard OR Smotherwing Butterfly
The Fireproof Lizards can be found in the Eldin Canyon or Eldin Mountains, while the Smotherwing Butterflies inhabit Eldin Canyon and the Gerudo Highlands. The Lizards are quite skittish and you’ll have to sneak up on them in order to successfully catch one. If they are proving too elusive, you can always purchase however many you need from Beedle at Woodland Stable.
One monster part and one lizard/butterfly will create a basic Fireproof Elixir. But keep in mind that adding additional lizards or butterflies will increase the duration of the elixir.
Armor
The Flamebreaker armor set, which you can buy from a shop in Goron City will set you back quite a lot of rupees! However, in order to receive the Flame Guard effect Link only has to be wearing a single piece. So if you’re a little short on cash, go for the chest piece which sells for only 700 rupees.
