In Baldur’s Gate 3, Adamantine Scale Mail is craftable medium armour, and you can get it from Adamantine Forge in Act 1 – this short Guide Explains everything you need to know about The Adamantine Scale Mail in BG3.
Adamantine Scale Mail
In Baldur’s Gate 3, The Adamantine Scale Mail is a standout choice for crafting at the Adamantine Forge, mainly because there aren’t many strong medium armor sets available. This armor provides similar benefits to heavy armor, like an AC of 16, reduced damage by 1, immunity to critical hits, and protection with the Reeling status effect.
What’s great about medium armor is that it’s suitable for a wide range of classes and races, including Bard (Sword & Valour), Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Paladin, Ranger, Shield Dwarf, and Githyanki. You can add AC to your Dexterity modifier up to +2 when you wear medium armor. With a Dexterity score of 14 or higher, you can reach an AC of 18, matching heavy armor but with slightly less damage reduction.
You can equip it to your character’s chest slot in the inventory. The user needs Medium Armour proficiency or suffers penalties while wearing the armour. You can equip it on any class, companion, or character that has Madium Armour proficiency.

How to Get Adamantine Scale Mail in Baldur’s Gate 3
To get the Adamantine Scale Mail in Baldur’s Gate 3, craft it in Adamantine Forge, located in Grymforge, during Act 2. You must find Mithral Ore and Scale Mail Mould and defeat Grym first.
The following list explains all the steps to get and craft Adamantine Scale Mail in BG3:
- Arrive at Grymforge during Act 1
- Find Scale Mail Mould straight south of the Adamantine Forge Waypoint on the rocky floor (X: -621 Y: 260)
- Gather Mithral Ore from one of two available ore veins.
- Find legendary Adamantine Forge.
- Insert Mithral ore into the Crucible.
- Insert Scale Mail Mould to Mould Chamber
- Pull the forge lever to lower the platform.
- Release Lava valve
- The construct guarding the forge will appear, and you need to defeat him.
- The best strategy is to debuff Grym by luring him into lava, then to the crucible and smack with a crucible piston by pulling the lever.
- After the fight, recheck the forge. Your crafted Adamantine Scale Mail should be lying next to the mould chamber.
- Get the Adamantine Scale Mail and enjoy your new medium armour!
There are six craftable adamantine gear pieces to craft, but only two Mithral ore (check the locations on the map above). First, you can find Mithral ore northwest of the ruined staircase that leads straight to the Adamantine Forge. The second location is to the east, where you’ll need to make a jump over the lava and be careful not to step inside to collect it. Simply destroy the more veins to obtain it.
