Broodmother’s Revenge is an uncommon neck accessory in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) which you can only get by killing Kagha in Act 1.
The wildly popular 2023 CRPG Baldur’s Gate 3 boasts an in-depth story, where your choices can change the outcome of multiple events. Some of these are significant choices with consequences that can reverberate through the rest of the game. Characters you interacted with in Act 1 can sometimes reappear in Act 3. Other times, your decision may only affect characters within a certain time and place. However, even these ‘smaller’ decisions can be relevant to the larger story and impact how you choose to roleplay your character.
In Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, one such choice has to do with the Druid Grove and the secrets behind those left in charge. In this guide, we’ll explore the Broodmother’s Revenge stats and trait, how to acquire it, and tips for using it effectively in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Everything about Broodmother’s Revenge in Baldur’s Gate 3
In Baldur’s Gate 3, the Broodmother’s Revenge is an amulet that any companion or class can equip to their neck slot. Moreover, the active trait on this piece will provide the wearer with a free Poison damage boost after they receive healing. The effect can be triggered by just about any type of healing. This includes drinking a Health Potion or being on the receiving end of a healing spell.
Furthermore, the Poison Damage boost that you receive will be similar to the effect created when you Dip your weapon in Poison. However, Venemous Revenge does have a greater 1d6 damage range, rather than 1d4. On the other hand, it also lasts for one turn less.

How to Get Broodmother’s Revenge in BG3
To get the Broodmother’s Revenge in Baldur’s Gate 3 you must first make your way to the Emerald Grove in Act 1 and find Druid Kagha inside the Sacred Pool. This will intersect with your first meeting with Arabella, whose fate you will also get the chance to influence.
When the scene is over and you are free to explore the Druid inner sanctum, make your way into the Servant’s Quarters. In the back of the room, use the ledges to climb up into a space behind the bookcases. There you will find Kagha’s chest, which will be locked. Crouch into a sneak and wait until no one is watching before you use a character with high Sleight of Hand to break it open. Inside, you will find a Half-Torn note. Reading it will start the quest Investigate Kagha.
To follow the clue provided in the note, head down into the Sunlit Wetlands in the southwest of the Act 1 Map. Head over to the docks on the east side and jump from rock to rock until you reach the small island offshore. First, you will have to face several Wood Woads and Ancient Mud Mephits. Afterward, go around the west side of the large tree trunk and find a crevice. Find the letter to Kagha to reveal the truth about her and the Shadow Druids.
Finally, return to the Emerald Grove and confront Kagha. During the dialogue, you will have an opportunity to persuade her to change sides. However, if you want Broodmother’s Revenge, then you will need to ignore that and kill Kagha during the fight.
How to use Broodmother’s Revenge in BG3?
The best way to use Broodmother’s Revenge in BG3 would be to equip it to one of your frontline fighters in combat. Likely this character will need the most healing, and will regularly need to drink a potion or receive a healing spell. Additionally, they will be close to enemies with their melee weapon and can easily take advantage of the Poison damage boost as soon as it’s taken effect.
Therefore, you’ll want to make sure to time your heals correctly so that you don’t lose a turn. For example, if your character drinks a potion, make sure they do it with their Bonus Action before making any attacks. That way, their hits will immediately deal the extra Poison damage and they won’t waste one of those turns.
FAQs about the Broodmother’s Revenge in Baldur’s Gate 3
Q1: Is the Broodmother’s Revenge a good accessory in BG3?
Answer: Broodmother’s Revenge could be helpful when used on a frontline melee character in the early game of Baldur’s Gate 3. The extra damage could be very helpful, especially if you are struggling to bring down enemies in the early game. However, outside of that, there will be better necklace accessories for all characters.
Q2: Does the Broodmother’s Revenge work with the Shattered Flail?
Answer: No, the healing effect you receive from the Shattered Flail does not trigger the Venomous Revenge trait on Broodmother’s Revenge. However, it does work with the Helm of Balduran, but only when you are at full health. But by the time you reach Act 3 where the Helm is found, there will be much better accessories at hand.
