The passive bonus on this ring is called Thaumaturge’s Expertise. First, it will give the wearer a 20% increase to their ability cast speed. This means that the cast time for all of your abilities will be much quicker. This can make a big difference when you’re trying to get a spell off before an enemy interrupts you.
Secondly, the Thaumaturge’s Expertise passive will also reduce the Essence cost of all your abilities by 20%. This stacks nicely with the previous buff because you’ll be able to cast more abilities before your Essence recourse pool runs out.

How to Get the Sigil of the Arcane in Avowed?
To get the Sigil of the Arcane you must find a door marked by three glowing glyphs in the Shark’s Teeth area of the Shatterscarp region. Each glyph corresponds to an ‘energy box’ that you must shoot with electricity to activate. You can use Giatta’s utility ability, an electricity spell, or an Electric Lily Seed to activate these.
The Shark’s Teeth area is located in the northeast region of Shatterscarp, just south of Ryngrim’s Domain, which is a major part of the main quest. There are several stone features and ruins in this area, and you’ll find a sealed stone door with yellow glyphs on the back side of one of these in about the center.
After you find it, stand back from the door and look towards it. From this position, the first energy box is across the way to your left, on ground level. Next, you’ll need to climb scaffolding to the right to reach the first rock platform for the second energy box. Finally, then turn around to face back the way you came, but stay on the same level. You should be able to see the third energy box.
Once you have activated all three boxes, head back down to the now-open door. This will lead into a small room, where you will find a lockbox on the table that contains the Sigil of the Arcane.
How to Use Sigil of the Arcane in Avowed?
The Sigil of the Arcane is simple to use in Avowed, and only requires equipping the ring to your character. The passive will apply automatically, giving you a boost to ability cast speed and a reduction to ability cost.
Furthermore, the name of the item implies that spellcasting classes would get the most benefit from using it. However, because all classes use Essence to execute abilities, even melee classes such as Fighters and Rangers could also equip this ring.
