What is the Last Light of Day in Avowed?
In Avowed, the Last Light of Day is a unique one-handed melee sword that can restore health on an enemy death, as well as deal extra elemental damage. The Golden Sun’s Ascent enchantment bonus will return 3% of your maximum health to you anytime you kill an enemy. Secondly, the Dawn’s Remembrance enchantment will deal an extra 10% of fire damage each time you hit an enemy.
Furthermore, as the primary enchantment, Golden Sun’s Ascent can also be upgraded at camp. In Avowed, you can only choose one of two possible upgrades to a weapon’s primary enchantment. On the Last Light of Day, you can boost the amount of healing, or inflict a Stun on a successful parry.

How to Get the Last Light of Day Sword in Avowed?
To get the unique Last Light of Day sword in Avowed you need to follow the long Dawntreader sidequest, in order to find Sargamis at the Temple of Eothas and loot the sword from him.
Step 1- How to Start the Dawntreader Quest in Avowed
To start the Dawntreader quest in Avowed you need to follow the main quest until you reach the city of Paradis. Depending on your speed and exploration, this should happen within the first few hours of the game after you reach the docks.
After the opening events of Paradis you will then be free to explore the city. Look for an exclamation mark above the head of a young man named Ofryc just outside the Embassy. He is worried about his brother Caedmon, who was part of an expedition team searching some Godless ruins. He asks you to find his brother and rescue the expedition team.
Step 2- Find the Aedyran Expedition Team
You’ll find the quest marker for the Aedyran Expedition Team to the northwest of Paradis. The best way to get there is using the camp or beacon next to The Strangleroot and then heading east across the bridge. Then, head south around Pargrun Cache and find the entrance to the Pilgrim’s Path. You’ll know you’re on the right track when you see some trail markers leading you back and forth up some switchbacks.
At the end of Pilgrim’s Patch you’ll find a guard named Secgwin. You’ll have to convince her to let you pass into the Temple entrance. Next, enter the dungeon instance and follow the path ahead. You’ll discover an injured Caedmon along the way, and heal him up so he can return to the embassy.
Step 3- Make a Decision about Sargamis
When you finally reach Sargamis, the Oracle will tell you about his work constructing a statue of Eothas. All it needs for completion is a relic called the splinter of Eothas. Agree to find it for him and follow the quest markers further into the temple. Along the way you can find the Oracle’s workshop, where you’ll also find the rest of the expedition team. Read some of the journals to discover hints at what happened.
After you get the relic, return to Sargamis. He’ll ask you to place it into the statue and you’ll have to decide if you want to cooperate with him. If you refuse, you’ll end up fighting him and have to kill him. Consequently, you can loot the Last Light of Day afterward.
However, you also have the option of giving the relic to him. Place it in the statue and flip the switch. It won’t work, but you can convince Sargamis that the statue needs his power/soul, as well. Persuade him to sacrifice himself, press the switch, and he will die. You can loot the sword from him easily after. The statue will still not work, so ultimately the situation ends the same, just without a fight.
How to Use the Last Light of Day in Avowed?
The best way to use the unique sword the Last Light of Day in Avowed is by equipping it to either a sword and shield Fighter, or a dual-wielding Ranger. The reason that it is a great option for characters specializing in either skill tree is because of the passive healing and additional fire damage it provides. The Ranger could choose to either use a shield in the off-hand (increasing survivability and defense) or dual-wield with dagger.

As the primary enchantment, the Golden Sun’s Ascent can be upgraded in one of two ways. Additionally, this change change is permanent, and you cannot switch back later.
