Ultimate Lepic Build Guide for The First Descendant
The Ultimate Lepic build is a character designed for explosions, AOE, and boss-killing potential. Lepic uses Overkill to transform his hand into a high-damage burst skill perfect for quickly annihilating bosses. Moreover, he has a passive that saves his life if reduced to zero HP. Therefore, he’s a balanced character that is great to pick up at the end of the game if you enjoy explosives and burning damage over time. The Ultimate version of Lepic is upgraded with better stats and more mod capacity, allowing you to push your build even further.
The downside to Lepic is his reliance on mods to increase skill power and survivability to compete with other builds. Moreover, he lacks the mobility of Bunny or Valby, but he is one of the best all-around starting characters. Below we walk you through a guide on creating the best Ultimate Lepic Build in the First Descendant.

Lepic’s Exclusive Equipment
Ultimate Lepic doesn’t have exclusive equipment but rather has his ultimate equipment, the “Indomitable Knight” Mobile Infantry System. You can access it by clicking details in the Descendant menu and customizing the appearance of his equipment. Below are the details on Lepic’s Exclusive Equipment:
“This equipment, named Indomitable Knight, was first discovered in the ancient blueprints stored at the Ancestors’ facility in Kingston. It could be faithful reproduced with the current generation of technology, thanks to its simple and reliable design, Based on these findings, the Magisters have inferred that Indomitable Knight may have been part of the standard equipment for the Ancestors’ mobile infantry. However, it remains a mystery how the Ancestors, who mass-produced such superior equipment, could have perished without a trace.”
Skills
The central build theme with Ultimate Lepic Build is using Overlock to add burning damage over time to grenades and Overkill. You then throw your low cooldown grenade for AOE damage or Traction grenade to suck in enemies. Your Overkill ultimate ability changes your weapon into an AOE grenade launcher but with a longer cooldown. Overkill is your primary boss destroying skill and consuming MP, so be at full before activating. Below are all the skills for Lepic:
- Grenade Throw – Throws a grenade forward at the enemy.
- Overclock – Increases all Skill ATK and adds a Burn effect to Grenade and Overkill for a set duration.
- Traction Grenade – Throws a Traction Grenade forward to pull the enemies within range.
- Overkill – Fires a powerful shell at the enemy. The shell is maintained at the landing point for a set period of time, inflicting constant damage.
- Close Call (Passive) – Recover HP when taking fatal damage. Long Cooldown.
Best Skill for Ultimate Lepic
Overkill is the best skill for Ultimate Lepic because it’s one of the highest damage skills in the game, scaling off your skill power for effectiveness. To use Overkill, ensure your MP is full so you can continuously fire rounds until depleted or the 8-second duration expires. Just before activating, activate Overclock, which boosts your Skill Power modifier by 20% and adds burn to skills. This will increase your damage substantially and ensure maximum burst on bosses or mobs.
When activating Overkill, there is a roughly two-second delay where you are vulnerable due to the animation of your arm transforming into a different weapon. During this time, hide behind cover and do not activate Overkill when under pressure due to this animation and delay. Once activated, you can still use skills like Traction Grenade to pull in enemies for AOE clearly, but it’s best to use Overkill when attacking bosses due to the burst damage and damage over time.
Overkill scales off your skill power. Thus, any mods to increase skill power, skill critical hit chance, and critical hit damage are the best to use. Moreover, your reactor needs to be Burning Mechanics, which increases tech and fire, both used in Overkill damage calculations. Additionally, if your reactor requires a specific weapon to be equipped, make sure to have that weapon out when using overkill to get every bonus possible.
Grenade Throw
Grenade Throw Features in The First Descendant:
- Description: Throws a grenade forward at the enemy.
- Fire – Tech
- Throws a grenade forward, inflicting AoE damage.
- Cooldown – 6 seconds
- MP Cost – 35
- AOE Damage – Skill Power x 487.3%
- Effect Range – 5 meters Radius
- Max Expandable Range – 200%
How to Use Grenade Throw: this is your basic AOE damage ability in 5 meters with a low cooldown. You want to use Overlock before throwing a grenade so you gain burning damage over time effect. Essentially, you should open with Overlock and Grenade Throw because both skills can be used so frequently.
Overclock
Overclock Features in The First Descendant:
- Description: Increases all Skill ATK and adds a Burn effect to Grenade and Overkill for a set duration.
- Fire – Singular
- Gains Overclock for a period of time.
- Overclock increases Skill Power Modifier and inflicts Burn on enemies damaged by Grenade Throw or Overkill.
- Burn deals continuous damage for a certain period of time.
- Cooldown – 20 seconds
- MP Cost – 24
Overlock
- Duration – 18 seconds
- Skill Power Modifier Increase – 20%
Burn
- Duration – 3 seconds
- Damage Interval – 1 second
- Continuous Damage – Skill Power x 115.2%
How to Use Overclock: your goal is to activate Overlock before using other abilities to gain additional damage over time effect (burn). With a long duration of 18 seconds and a cooldown of 20 seconds, this should always be up as you cycle through grenades and skills. With lower cooldown mods, you can even get 100% uptime, allowing you to always add burning damage to your other abilities. Transcendent mods can change this effect to increase firearm ATK, but it’s best to use this before Overkill boss destruction.
Traction Grenade
Traction Grenade Features in The First Descendant:
- Description: Throws a Traction Grenade forward to pull the enemies within range.
- Fire – Singular
- Cooldown – 25 seconds
- MP Cost – 45
- Effect Range – 9-meter Radius
- Duration – 2 seconds
How to Use Traction Grenade: Traction Grenade pulls in enemies within 9 meters and is a perfect way to deal massive damage to mobs. The downside of this skill is the longer cooldown, but when enemies are more spread (above 5 meters), use this before Grenade. The rotation would be, Overclock, Traction, Grenade in AOE trash mob fights.
Overkill
Overkill Features in The First Descendant:
- Description: Fires a powerful shell at the enemy. The shell is maintained at the landing point for a set period of time, inflicting constant damage.
- Fire – Tech
- Switches the equipped weapon to Overkill.
- While Overkill is active, MP is continuously consumed. When MP runs out, return to the original weapon.
- Enemies hit by Overkill bullets receive AoE damage.
- Overkill bullets create an AoE where they hit that deals continuous damage.
- Cooldown – 65 seconds
- MP Cost – 47
Exclusive Weapon Information
- AoE Damage – Skill Power x 734.1%
- Continuous Damage – Skill Power x 11.7%
- Continuous Damage Duration – 4 seconds
- Continuous Damage Interval – 0.5 seconds
- Continuous Damage Range – 5 meter Radius
- Max Expandable Range – 200%
How to Use Overkill: this skill is your “ultimate’ ability with MP consumed per second and a long-duration cooldown. The trick to using this skill is saving up your MP because after you activate it, it will swap to an overkill weapon and gradually drain your MP. Therefore, activating it when you are almost drained of MP won’t help you because the duration will be short. Once the Overkill weapon is activated, start blasting enemies for AOE damage. While you can activate Overclock before for more burning damage, it will significantly lower the skill duration in exchange for damage over time.
Close Call (Passive)
Close Call Features in The First Descendant:
- Description: Recover HP when taking fatal damage.
- Descendant Attribute: Fire
- Upon receiving fatal damage, gain Close Call.
- When Close Call is active, become immune to damage and Crowd Control effects for a period of time.
- When Close Call ends, recover a portion of your Max HP.
- This effect is not affected by Incoming Recovery or Outgoing Recovery.
- Cooldown – 600 seconds
- Duration – 5 seconds
- Health Recovery Amount – 50% of Max HP
How to Use Close Call: this is an “oh crap” passive that helps you stay alive once in 10 minutes. This is one reason Lepic is such a strong starting character: due to grenade spam and a passive that helps if you make a mistake.
How to play Ultimate Lepic in The First Descendant
Ultimate Lepic’s gameplay centers on his Overclock ability, which adds burn effects to his grenades and boosts his Overkill for a limited time. Overkill, his ultimate ability, launches a powerful artillery shell, while his grenades create massive explosions. Activating Overclock before using a grenade or Overkill inflicts burning damage over time (DOT), turning Lepic into a formidable grenade spammer with strong AOE capabilities. Mastering Lepic involves effectively managing Overclock and reducing cooldowns.
Area Damage and Single-Target Damage: for AOE damage, look to use traction grenades to suck in enemies and combo it with Grenade for quick kills. Single Target Boss fights revolve around Overkill and activating Overclock just before for added burn damage over time. Make sure to save up MP to get the most shots using Overkill.
Movement and Speed: Ultimate Lepic is a standard soldier character with average speed. While he’s not as fast as Bunny, he’s also not as slow as a heavy tank. You want to use dodge roll spam or jump and grappling hook for increased mobility. The Long Range Grappling Hook really helps Lepic get out of trouble with increased distance.
Bosses and Ultimates: Despite specializing in AOE damage, Ultimate Lepic is also effective against single-target bosses. Increase your damage output by cycling grenades and the burning status effect with Overclock. Use a grenade to initiate burning, and as it fades, activate Overclock and your ultimate to maintain high pressure.
Defenses and Survival Tips: Ultimate Lepic’s passive skill, Close Call, boosts his survivability by allowing him to recover automatically after sustaining fatal damage. Lepic’s health bar will stay at zero for a while, then boost back up. This allows you to revive a downed ally or find a health brick.
Descendant Modules for Ultimate Lepic Build
Time Distribution, Emergency Measures, and Spear and Shield are the best modules (mods) for an Ultimate Lepic Build in the First Descendant. Time Distribution lowers skill cooldowns and increases max HP giving you quicker skill usage and survivability. Emergency Measures and Front Lines give you a critical chance and damage your skills, boosting their power. Lastly, combining two benefits, Spear and Shield increase DEF and skill power. Focus on Tech is a good alternative, though will make you less survivable.
Priority for obtaining Ultimate Ajax Mods:
- Time Distribution
- Emergency Measures
- Spear and Shield
- Long-Distance Maneuvering
- Front Lines
- Increase DEF
- Increase HP
- Skill Insight
- Skill Concentration
- Nimble Fingers
Below, we show our module layout, which may change depending on your socket setup and max module capacity. At Mastery Rank 12, you can reset your level and add another mod socket (shapes and icons on the bar). This gives you lower module cost and, thus, more overall power. We will show you a general setup for new players and end game players using Ultimate Lepic, however you may need to adjust based on what you possess. Also, look in the Access Module section to learn how to find each mod.

Best Reactor Stats for Ultimate Lepic in The First Descendant
Burning Mechanics is the best reactor for an Ultimate Lepic build in the First Descendant because it buffs your Fire and Tech-type skills. Fire is your descendant attribute and tech buffs Grenade and Overkill skills. The second choice is Burning Singularity, which buffs Fire and Singular type, effective Overclock and Traction Grenade skills. Look to increase Skill Critical Hit Damage and Skill Power with the bottom two bonuses.
Below is our recommendation for the best Lepic reactors:
- Optimization Condition: Greg’s Reverse Fate (Tactical Rifle)
- Skill Power Boost Ratio: Fire and Tech
- Bonus Conditions: Skill Critical Hit Damage and Skill Power
In The First Descendant, reactors are powerful enhancements significantly impacting a character’s abilities, stats, and overall performance. They function as core components that provide substantial boosts and unique effects, enabling players to tailor their characters to specific playstyles and strategies.
Weapons for Ultimate Lepic Build
The Tamer, Greg’s Reversed Fate, and Sigvore’s Proof are the best weapons for an Ultimate Lepic build. The Tamer is the best boss killing weapon and is designed for Void Intercept battles and destroying bosses in group content. An alternative is the Thunder Cage Submachine gun, which is helpful for non-boss fights and mob clearing. Greg’s Reversed Fate is a tactical rifle that is useful for long-range damage and has meteors that cause burning. Lastly, Sigvore’s Proof is a launcher that can stack up to five times and explode, causing massive damage. An alternative to this Launcher is a Sniper Rifle like Supermoon. However, this weapon loadout will go well with burning damage over time setup.
The following list presents the best weapon choices for Ultimate Lepic Build:
- Tamer – Machine Gun
- Greg’s Reversed Fate – Tactical Rifle
- Sigvore’s Proof – Launcher
Tamer
The Tamer features in the First Descendant:
- Firearm ATK: 17631
- Fire Rate: 624
- Reload Speed: 2.6 seconds
- Effective Range: 55 meters
This is the meta weapon for killing bosses in single-target fights. Swap to Thunder Cage when doing non-boss fights or Eternal Willpower. Below are the recommended mods focusing on critical hit, critical damage, and weak points for the Tamer Machine Gun:
- Rifling Reinforcement – Firearm ATK +12%
- Better Concentration – Firearm Critical Hit Damage +19%
- Concentration Priority – Firearm Critical Hit Damage +30%, Reload Time Modifier -8%
- Rapid Rife Insight – Fire Rate +8%, Firearm Critical Hit Rate +1.5%
- Better Insight – Firearm Critical Hit Rate +10%
- Weak Point Insight – Weak Point Damage +8%, Firearm Critical Hit Rate +1.5%
Greg’s Reversed Fate
Greg’s Reversed features in the First Descendant:
- Firearm ATK: 16
- Fire Rate: 545
- Reload Speed: 2.1 seconds
- Effective Range: 35 meters
- Shaping Destiny: On hitting an enemy with a Max Shield, proc Bombardment on the enemy’s location with a set chance. Inflict Burn on enemies hit by Bombardment.
The Greg’s Reversed Tactical Rifle causes an area of effect bombardment upon hitting a target with Max Shields. This causes burning and increases the weapon’s fire rate.
Sigvore’s Proof
Sigvore’s Proof features in the First Descendant:
- Explosive ATK: 4000
- Fire Rate: 79
- Reload Speed: 2.8 seconds
- Mad Bomber: Fires a Sticky Bomb when shooting while aiming. The Launched bomb will automatically detonate after certain period of time after sticking to an enemy. When aim is canceled, the attachment bombs will detonate at the same time, regardless of whether the cooldown has been completed. Upon detonation, Sticky Bombs will inflict Burn on damaged enemies.
Useful because of the AOE damage it provides. You can aim down sights to stack multiple explosives, and it has a high-status effect chance. Therefore, you can inflict burning constantly, doing great damage to both single targets and AOE.
External Components
Slayer is the best external component set for an Ultimate Lepic Build. This four-piece set helps boost your skill power and allows you to re-cast Overkill more frequently. A secondary choice is the Annihilation set, increase duration, and Firearm ATK when you drop low on HP. You can run two or four pieces of this and, ideally, farm at the end of the game for optimal build performance. Regarding stats, prioritize Max HP, DEF, and elemental resistance like Toxic, Chill, Fire, or Electric Resistance. Below are the best External Component bonuses to prioritize for the Ultimate Lepic Build guide in the First Descendant:
- Max HP
- DEF
- HP Recovery Modifier
- MP Recovery Modifier
- Elemental Resistance (toxic, fire, etc.)
- Max Shields
Recent Updates and Changes for Ultimate Lepic Build
The biggest change and update to Ultimate Lepic during Season One is the addition of Invasions and Inversion Reinforcement. The ultimate version of Lepic is a decent choice for the new Invasion content because of his AoE abilities, but he tends to be slower than other Descendants. Players are rewarded for completion time and materials used for the newest Descendant Hailey. What you should know is to work towards unlocking the Inversion and completing Invasions to progress this new piece of equipment.
Ultimate Lepic Story in the First Descendant
The Ultimate Descendant Project refers to a plan in which either the Ancestors’ technology and equipment found throughout Ingris, or their special Arche genes, are refined to suit the characteristics of active Descendants, then applied to them. The ultimate goal being to enhance all Descendants to reflect the Ancestors, the powerful predecessors of humanity. And the first recipient of this grand project was Lepic, the sole survivor of the 44th Grenadier Squad.
Lepic was chosen to be the first Ultimate Descendant because the Ancestors’ equipment that was restored with a high reproduction ratio at the time was best suited for his characteristics. Named the “Indomitable Knight,” this battle equipment consisted of a modularized full-body armor suit and a helmet with integrated augmented vision. Judging from the design, it appears the “Indomitable Knight” was similar to equipment used by the Ancestors’ mobile attack squads, whose mission was exactly that of the 44th Grenadier Squad.
Ultimate Lepic Story Continued
After some test runs, Lepic was very pleased with the “Indomitable Knight.” The double-layer, enhanced battlesuit provided excellent defense despite being light in weight. In particular, the Arche-powered auxiliary motors projected Lepic’s power throughout the equipment, allowing the use of more powerful Arche abilities. Needless to say, the grenade attacks, made more precise by the integrated augmented vision, were deadly. The most important part was the tactical prosthetic arm upgrade using the “Indomitable Knight” parts. The Indomitable Knight was fully modularized, meaning that the section where the prosthetic arm should fit could be removed without any modifications. Lepic’s new right arm, built from the remaining parts, was the culmination of the first Ultimate Descendant Project.
And together with the battle equipment left behind by the Ancestors, the Iron-Willed Grenadier was born.
