Learn how to beat Devourer in The First Descendant as we explain mechanics, strategy, rewards, tips, and how to beat this boss.
How to Beat Devourer in The First Descendant
To beat the Devourer in the First Descendant, use electric damage and Descendant Bunny, attack weak point knees and shoulders, and destroy the Symobionts to prevent healing regeneration. The Ultimate Lepic Overkill skill with Firearm Master can kill Devourer within 10 seconds or less. However, players need to focus attacks on weak points, shoulders, and knees to avoid immunity mechanics.
At the start of the battle, activate your Ecive scanner to see the Pink bar beneath the Devourer’s shield and health bar. Once filled, the boss will become immune to damage and summon three Symbiont barrels protected in a green dome. Players will need to destroy all three barrels to resume damage. Moreover, these barrels regenerate the Devourer’s health, so time is critical. Once destroyed, resume weak point damage. Below are additional mechanics and tips for defeating the Devourer in the First Descendant.

Devourer Attacks, Abilities, & Mechanics
The Devourer’s mechanics revolve around attacking players with toxic damage. While in close range, the Devourer will slam its hand down, stunning anyone it hits along with heavy toxic damage. Therefore, constantly strafe to avoid this damage or dodge at once it’s hand raised. Additionally, the Devourer boss will put both arms out and shoot green toxic balls around in a radius. As the fight progresses, the balls will return, doing damage as it shoots them out and returns. Therefore, when you see the boss spread its arms, grapple to a higher point or double jump to avoid damage. Below is a list of the Devourer’s mechanics and attacks in the First Descendant:
- Roly-Poly: additional enemies summoned throughout the fight. You can ignore them or destroy them to pick up ammunition, health, and MP bricks.
- Slam Attack: when entering close range, strafe to the side or in a circle to avoid this attack.
- Poison Balls: the clue will be the boss’s hands spreading to the side, double jump, or grappling to a higher position.
- Symbiont: once the pink bar filled up, the boss will summon three barrels through the map, you need to destroy them.
- Healing: The boss will regenerate health as the Symbiont barrels are in play.
Best Tips for Beating Devourer Fight
The best tip for beating the Devourer is to do as much damage at the start as possible by playing solo and using modules strictly for damage. Players use the Deverour as a DPS test because it has much lower health solo vs a four-player group. Therefore, the boss will likely be much easier depending on your skill and damage. Additionally, modules that boost your skills’ damage, critical hit rate, and critical hit chance will make the burn phase much easier. However, if you cannot complete that quickly, look to destroy the Symbiont to prevent the boss from healing itself.
Below are tips and tricks for defeating the Devourer boss on normal or hard difficulty in the First Descendant:
- Play Solo: Void Intercept battles scale on the number of players, making solo the easiest to beat the Devourer.
- Burn the Boss: use Lepic, Viessa, or Gley and activate your best ability and weapon at the start.
- Use Ecive: immediately use the Ecive skill to detect weak points and the Frenzy (immunity) bar below health.
- Electric Damage: The boss is weak in electric power, so equip an electric damage module for your weapon.
- Weak Points: aim for shoulders and knees to stun the boss.
- Destroy Shoulders: once the shoulder becomes yellowish color, grapple and destroy it for a free 5 seconds of damage.
