Obtaining the Pyromancer’s Key in Avowed will get you some extremely useful items for the early game. Here is how to obtain it.
The Dawnshore region is the first region you can explore in Avowed. Taking the time to explore this region is well worth it, as you can find lots and lots of loot. Dawnshore is also full of secrets for you to find and quests for you to complete.
In the pyromancer’s camp at Berath’s Gateway, you can find a small, locked chest. To open this chest, like many other chests in the game, you will need a unique key. Specifically, you will need the Pyromancer’s Key. Fortunately for you, you won’t have to go far to find the key.
How Do You Get the Pyromancer’s Key in Avowed?
A burned note near the chest will tell you that the pyromancer moved to a nearby ridge to practice his spells. You can identify this ridge from the camp by spotting the flag on one of the nearby cliffs. This ridge can be easily reached in the following steps:
- Take the exit to the right of the graveyard and turn left to see a broken bridge.
- Jump across the bridge and continue forward under a wooden bridge until you see a group of Xaurips.
- After dealing with the Xaurips, turn around and follow the path up the hill.
- Walk past the wooden bridge that you went under and then turn right.
- Follow the path until you hear the pyromancer get ready to cast his next spell.
At this point, the pyromancer’s spell will backfire with disastrous consequences, causing his death. This allows you to easily pick up the key from his corpse.
The key is not the only thing you can find on the pyromancer. You can also find his journal—albeit a little charred—some grenades, and, most importantly, Anextli’s Grimoire. This is a spellbook full of fire spells that you can learn and make use of. It contains both level 1 spells as well as advanced ones that you can use if you are playing a wizard build.
What Does the Chest Contain?
The chest in the camp contains various useful items that will be helpful on your journey. It contains:
- An Amethyst gemstone.
- A Common Grimoire of Embers.
- Grenades.
- Upgrade materials like pelts and iron.
- Other miscellaneous items that you can use or sell for money.
This chest and the process of opening it is one of the easiest ways to get grenades early in the game.
