There are a wide variety of External Components in The First Descendant with stats that can boost your HP, DEF, Shields, along with two traits that can further increase those stats and more. Moreover, there are also lots of ultimate and rare external component sets that provide their unique set effects. The current meta for best external component stats is to prioritize maximizing your HP. Additionally, you always want to have an elemental resistance trait to give you better defense against Colossus.

However, that doesn’t mean you should dismantle all of the pieces that don’t have traits falling into those two categories. Crafting builds for your character, leveling modules, using Crystallization Catalysts and Energy Activators, re-leveling your characters and much more all require a lot of farming of in-game currencies and materials.

Consequently, some of the many traits on the external components can be incredibly useful for boosting your loot. Therefore, helping you complete your goals sooner. In the following guide, we’ll be covering the best external component traits for farming XP, Kuiper, and Gold in The First Descendant!

Best External Components for Farming EXP

The best external component for farming EXP in The First Descendant is the Sensor piece with a Character EXP Gain Modifier trait. Additionally, you should also equip a Memory component with the Firearm Proficiency Gain Modifier trait.

In The First Descendant, after you have used either an Energy Activator on your character or a Crystallization Catalyst on either your character or weapon module slots, their corresponding level will be reset back to 1. It’s recommended that you run special operations to power level back to level 40. However, that will still take some time. Therefore, having external components with both of these traits will help increase your Descendant and weapon proficiency levels faster.

Best External Components for Farming Kuiper

The best external component for farming Kuiper in The First Descendant is the Auxiliary Power piece with a Kuiper Drop Rate Increase Modifier trait. Additionally, the Auxiliary Power pieces can also come with a Module Drop Rate Increase Modifier trait. This won’t give you more kuiper shards directly. However, you can get them when you dismantle all your duplicate modules with the NPC Silion.

Moreover, you should also be on the lookout for a Processor external component that has the Item Acquisition Distance Increase Modifier trait. This will help with the general collection of both currency drops and with module, firearm, and materials drops. It will mean that you don’t need to run right on top of an item to pick it up. Rather, it will automatically collect it when you come within a certain radius.

Best External Components for Farming Gold

The best external component for farming gold in The First Descendant is the Memory piece with a Gold Drop Rate Increase Modifier trait. This will obviously lead to an increase in the amount of gold that drops while you play the game. It doesn’t matter the activity – missions, void reactors, special operations, infiltrations and more all drop the basic gold currency.

Finally, much like when farming for kuiper, you can also use a Processor external component that has the Item Acquisition Distance Increase Modifier trait for gold. Instead of needing to directly collect currency and items by standing precisely on their location, you’ll be able to pass within a certain radius of the item. The Item Acquisition Distance Increase Modifier will help you to automatically collect things as you move around.

How to Get External Components

In the First Descendant, all external component pieces are available on a weekly reset. Additionally, only two of the four pieces are available at any given time. Typically it alternates between Auxiliary Power and Memory one week, followed by Sensor and Processor the next.

To find out which external components are currently available, open up the world map. At the bottom of the page, pull up the ‘Difficulty Level Rewards’ page. From this new screen, you can use the filters at the top right to search for external components.

The ‘All Rewards’ page will tell you the type of external component piece that is available this week, and what zone you can find it in. However, it will not tell you the specific region of the zone you need to farm. Therefore, you will have to use the search filters on the Difficulty Level Rewards screen.

This will tell you the external component piece that is dropping, as well as what specific area you can find it in. Additionally, you can click on that box and it will pull up the area on the map. You can click on the outpost safe zone there to immediately transport to where you need to go.
