Discover how to get, all of the locations to farm, how to craft and how to use Crystallization Catalysts in The First Descendant.
What Are Crystallization Catalysts in The First Descendant?
In The First Descendant Crystallization Catalysts are an enhancement material you can use to assign or change the Module Socket Type on Descendants and weapons. You will need one catalyst per socket that you wish to modify. Consequently, you will need a lot of Crystallization Catalysts to upgrade all of the modules sockets on multiple Descendants and weapons.
Furthermore, you can only use a Crystallization Catalyst when your Descendant reaches the max Level of 40. Moreover, when you use a Cystallization Catalyst to change a module socket type it will reset your Descendant to a Level 1. Therefore, it’s best to only use Crystallization Catalysts when you have the time to grind your character back to max level, and not right before taking on any Colossi.
Finally, it’s a very similar application to weapons. You must have reached a weapon level proficiency of 40 before you can use a Cystallization Catalyst on it. And using a catalyst will reset the weapon proficiency back to one again.
How to Get Crystallization Catalysts in The First Descendant
To get Crystallization Catalysts in The First Descendant, you will either need to buy them from the store with the premium currency Caliber or gather all the necessary materials to craft them. Furthermore, if you choose to purchase them from the store they will cost 300 Caliber each.
To collect all of the materials necessary to craft Crystallization Catalysts in the first Descendant, there are various locations where the five different resources drop. You can check each resource and discover the multiple places you can farm them by using the Access Info menu. To keep things simple, we’ll be listing each of the five materials and the best location to farm each.
Murky Energy Residue
Murky Energy Residue is the first materials you will need to craft Cyrstallization Catalysts. You can get it from an elite Vulgus enemy who appears about halfway through the mission. Therefore, if you’re strictly farming for Murky Energy Residue the best strategy is do jump into the operation on Private, and play though until you reach the elite Vulgus. Once you’ve defeated him and collected your residue, then return to Albion and you can start it again.
Best location to find Murky Energy Residue in The First Descendant:
- Sterile Land zone, Restricted Zone area, The Forgottense operation dungeon
Macromolecule Biogel
When collecting the Macromolecule Biogel for your Crystallization Catalysts there isn’t necessarily a best location out of the two specific missions you can choose from. Both are located in the Echo Swamp zone and both are Vulgus Strategic Outpost missions. In fact, it can help that there are two because you can port back and forth between them, which helps with the timer. Furthermore, port into the zone while set to a Private instance, which will also help with the timer.
Additionally, if you have Sharen, you can use her Active Camouflage ability to infiltrate the outpost and hack the three consoles. This will still summon the mission monster you must defeat. However, successfully doing this will give you a chance for additional loot. If you need help extending the duration of her camouflage ability, try equipping her with the Maximize Duration or Skill Extension modules.
Best location to find Macromolecule Biogel in The First Descendant:
- Echo Swamp zone, Muskeg Swamp area, Vulgus Strategic Outpost
- Drops from the more powerful mission monster.
- Infiltrate and hack the three consoles, or just destroy them by shooting to ‘summon’ the boss.
- Echo Swamp zone, Derelict Covert area, Vulgus Strategic Outpost
- Drops from the more powerful mission monster.
- Infiltrate and hack the three consoles, or just destroy them by shooting to ‘summon’ the boss.
Mixed Energy Residue
The best way to find Mixed Energy Residue for crafting Energy Activators in The First Descendant is by using the character Enzo, whose passive ability, Shoot Support, gives him a better chance at unlocking Encrypted Vaults for increased rewards. However, recent changes to the game have added additional missions which can also drop the Mixed Energy Residue resource.
Using Enzo the best location is in the Vermillion Waste area of the Agna Desert zone. On the south side of the region will be an open hole in the rock, leading into a cave space below. You can find an Encrypted Vault down inside.
With any other Descendant, the best place to farm for Mixed Energy Residue Foil is also in the Vermillion Waste of the Agna Desert. The mission is called Baggage Transport Base, and the materials have the potential to drop from any defeated enemy. However, they drop at a much smaller rate than Enzo can find at one time when breaking open a vault.
Best location to find Mixed Energy Residue in The First Descendant:
- Agna Desert zone, Vermillion Waste area, Encrypted Vaults
- Only possible if you have and use Enzo
- Need to go down into a hole in the ground to find a cave space off of the map
- Agna Desert zone, Vermillion Waste area, Baggage Transport Base battlefield mission
- Mixed Energy Residue can drop from any enemy, but in much smaller amounts then Enzo can find
Advanced Neural Circuit
One of the best locations to get the Advanced Neural Circuit in The First Descendant is the Border Line of Truth mission in the Mountaintops area of White-night Gulch. In normal mode you should be able to complete this mission in two minutes on a high level character. Moreover, this mission can drop about four or five of the Advanced Neural Circuit.
Additionally, another viable option is the Fortress Outskirts mission in the Shipment Base area of White-night Gulch. Shipment Base is the area farthest to the north and the Fortress Outskirts mission in particular is also a good location for farming Kuiper.
Best location to find Advanced Neural Circuit in The First Descendant:
- White-night Gulch zone, The Mountaintops area, Border Line of Truth battlefield mission
Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint
Finding the Crystallization Catalyst Blueprints will require more work because you have to grind two separate things. First, you need to collect an Amorphous Material Pattern that corresponds with the Colossus boss you wish to try farming the blueprint from. We recommend running the Hagio’s zone The Haven operation dungeon on Normal for the Amorphous Materials Patten: 043 for the best results. Then you take Pattern 043 into the void intercept battle with Swamp Walker, and upon defeat will have a 15% chance to receive the Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint.
If you’re not far enough into the game to have unlocked the Swamp Walker, then a second option is The Chapel operation dungeon found in the Derelict Covert area of the Echo Swamp zone. This will drop the Amorphous Material Pattern: 023, which you can use for a 15% drop rate of the Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint after defeating the Dead Bride Colossus on normal.
Best location to find Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint in The First Descendant:
- Hagios zone, The Corrupted Zone area, The Haven operation on Normal
- Drops Amorphous Material Pattern: 043
- Then fight Swamp Walker on Normal, and use Pattern 043 for a 15% chance to receive the Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint
- Echo Swamp zone, Derelict Covert area, The Chapel operation on Normal
- Drops Amorphous Material Pattern: 023
- Then fight Dead Bride Colossus on Normal and use Pattern 023 for a 15% chance to receive the Crystallization Catalyst Blueprint
