You can spend hours wandering around in the beautiful new Zelda game, not knowing that Paraglider is a transportation option in the Tears of the Kingdom, especially if you haven’t played the previous Zelda game. This short guide will explain what to do and when to unlock the paraglider.

How to Get and Unlock the Paraglider in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

You’ll need to complete the Crisis at Hyrule Castle main quest and talk to the Purah back in the Lookout Landing to receive the paraglider. Don’t worry, it is a part of the main quest, so if you follow the story, you won’t miss it.

The first introduction quest on the sky islands is long, so until you’ll get to the Hyrule castle, you’ll need to complete a series of tasks, four shrines and the Time Temple Quest. Here is an overview of what to do from the beginning of the game.

  • Start the game
  • Walk with Zelda through the cutscenes and the game’s intro.
  • Follow the instructions of ancient Zonai, Rauru
  • Complete three Shrines
  • Open the Time Temple
  • Complete the fourth Shrine on Sky Islands
  • Come Back to the Time Temple
  • Follow the story and cutscenes.
  • Drop down from the Sky Islands to the Hyrule Plains.
  • Visit Lookout Landing
  • Talk to the Purah in the observatory tower.
  • Enter Hyrule Castle and Find Guard Captian
  • After the sequence of events, come back to Purah in Lookout Landing
  • Get and unlock your Paraglider!

Paraglider works exactly the same as in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You will use stamina to fly, so make sure to expand it by collecting Stamina Vessels. If you drain stamina, you will drop down. However, you always have one last paraglider deployment, so use it to slow down and prevent yourself from a death fall. To Glide through the air, press the “Y” button.
