The side missions can be initiated by interacting with floating, orb-shaped portals. These can be found by detouring a little from your path.

12. Notebook

The Notebook is an interesting concept in a story. Through this story, we get to enact a novel as the tale is written. Obstacles form in our path, but Zoe can write paths to help us move forward on the go. It has a unique sketch-themed art style. The task of the mission is to save the prince who has been kidnapped.

You can finish the mission by battling against two of the three optional bosses. Once you defeat them, you unchain the prince and sail back to freedom.

This is another cute mission where both Zoe and Mio turn into pigs. Both of you hone unique and funny abilities, where Mio can fly with a boost of rainbow fart, and Zoe can extend her body like a spring. Farmlife entails passing through barn doors by offering the doors an apple each. Our task is to find these apples through a sequence of collaborative efforts.

The end of the mission provides us with a hilarious twist, where we turn into sausages and are tasked with preparing a hot dog.

The mission Kites is a peaceful side mission, acting as a great stress relief during Chapter 4. It offers the perfect blend of both worlds with a soothing soundtrack and serene visuals. Both Mio and Zoe have a race, grappling and flying their way amongst a sky full of kites.

The mission also references a small Easter egg from Spider-Man 2, where we travel the skies with the help of wind tunnels. When both of you reach the final floating castle, the mission concludes, leaving the loser in a foul mood.

This is a beautifully illustrated mission where our task is to scale mountains. This endeavor of ours is supported by a friendly group of giants. Throughout the mission, they either aid us by clearing obstacles, creating paths, or simply holding us in their arms and dropping us off at the next platform. As you keep playing this side mission, you constantly wonder how the giants will help you next.

5. Gameshow

The Gameshow mission begins with a seemingly fun-loving host introducing us to the game and instructions. The rules of the game are as simple as passing a bomb among each other and dropping it inside the container at the other end.

This perspective we hold of the host is quickly dismissed. The moment we begin to master each challenge she presents, her true colors start to shine. Eventually, the rage builds up, causing her to short-circuit. The mission ends when we finally put an end to the game by dropping the bomb inside the host’s head.

This one is similar to The Gameshow in that the entire side mission is a boss battle. You both are teleported in the middle of a highway and are immediately equipped with gliders. This entire mission is a chase sequence where we must halt a train carrying a bomb from reaching its target. This train is being protected by the security defense system called The Conductor.

The last change converts the mission into a platformer game style as we go head-on against The Conductor.
