What are the Best 10 Builds for The First Descendant in Patch 1
Gley, Ajax, and Bunny are the best Builds and Characters in Patch 10 for the First Descendant. Regarding damage, no one matches Gley’s output due to her unique skills and base stats. Gley is the only Descendant who can not consume ammunition via Increased Sensory skill, allowing her to use the highest DPS weapons independently. Ajax is the most durable using a combination of transcendent mods and modules to reach unreal defensive stats. Moreover, Ajax provides great support and is the most survivable of all. Lastly, Bunny has the fastest and most aggressive playstyle, making her the best person to clear out quests and grinding.
Below are the 10 best builds and characters in the latest Patch 1 from best to worst:
- Gley – The highest damage and largest base stat Descendant.
- Ajax – Best survivability and group utility character.
- Bunny – Fast and fun AOE damage dealer who is great for farming levels, materials, shards, etc.
- Lepic – A great damage dealer where all your skills work on mobs or bosses.
- Viessa – Ice damage with the highest DPS skill in the game.
- Freyna – High DPS Poison DOT combined with Ultimate Fallen Hope Weapon
- Yujin – The only pure healer character in the game, with powerful buffs and debuffs.
- Blair – Fire-based huge damage skills.
- Enzo – Most versatility and needed for Code Breaking
- Valby – second best farming speed XP character.
10. Valby
The best features for a Valby character build in The First Descendant:
- Descendent Attribute: Non-Attribute
- Best Modules: Front Lines, Focus on Non-Attribute, Time Distribution
- Transcendent Mod: Supply Moister
- Best Weapon: Thunder Cage
- Best Reactor: Materialized Mixture
- External Component Set: Annihilation
Valby’s strength is her mobility, crowd control, and damage over time water effect. She has a similar playstyle and concept to Bunny, except weaker. With Valby, you set up as many water puddles on the ground as possible and kill enemies before they spawn. She makes the second-best “grinding” Descendant and is currently the best way to power level Gold, Kupier, Mastery Ranks, and Descendant levels. Lastly, she has incredible crowd control, allowing you to stun weaker enemies on command.
The major flaw in Valby’s kit is her skills aren’t helpful in boss battles (Void Intercept). Therefore, she falls behind the other Descendants on this list, who can utilize skills and powers in all content. However, players should look to obtain the Supply Moiser Transcendent mod to increase their damage dramatically while standing in puddles. With Valby, you want to be creating and standing in puddles constantly.
If Valby had a better fourth skill more applicable to boss encounters, we should rank higher on our list: The First Descendant Top 10 Builds for Patch 1.
9. Enzo
The best features for an Enzo character build in The First Descendant:
- Descendent Attribute: Non-Attribute
- Best Modules: Maximize Duration, MP Conversion, Focus on Singular
- Transcendent Mod: Supply Firearm Enhancer
- Best Weapon: Divine Punishment
- Best Reactor: Materialized Singularity
- External Component Set: 2x Tomb Vanguard, 2x Annihilation
Enzo is an extremely useful Descendant because of his passive Fire Supporter. Not only does this help allies around him hold more ammunition, but he also gains increased effectiveness when opening Encrypted Vaults. Moreover, Enzo’s skill kit helps in boss battles or completing quests. Enzo has a defensive skill to regenerate shields, a supply pack for everyone in the area, and a burst skill to add clear or bossing.
Enzo’s build wants to use the Divine Punishment Assualt Rifle, which grants allies a buff and gives you higher DEF per stack. This is a helpful weapon for focusing on buffs for your party and giving you higher DEF and survivability. Moreover, you can use the Transcendant mod Supply Firearm Enhancer to add additional buff when allies touch the device. This mod grants increased Weak Point DMG and Firearm Critical Hit Rate with a high uptime. Thus, Enzo is one of the best group-oriented support builds in the First Descendant.
However, Enzo isn’t the best support builds; that would be Yujin. Moreover, his AOE damage is weak; with weak damage overall, and his build isn’t the most powerful or widely used. However, his passive voice makes him one of the best builds in the First Deseceandant and number 9 on our top 10 list.
8. Blair
The best features for a Blair character build in The First Descendant:
- Descendent Attribute: Fire
- Best Modules: Focus on Fire, Front Lines, and Emergency Measures
- Transcendent Mod: Truly Deadly Cuisine
- Best Weapon: Enduring Legacy
- Best Reactor: Burning Phase
- External Component Set: 2x Volcanic, 2x Battle Aesthetics Sensor
Blair is the ultimate burst damage builds meant for destruction with Fire. He has one of the best skills in the game: Deadly Cuisine. Combining mods and the Transcendent mod Truly Deadly Cuisine, you gain extra damage with your massive Fireball, creating some of the highest bursts in the game. Moreover, using the Enduring Legacy Machine Gun will debuff enemies, allowing for more status effect chance and extra damage.
Blair feels like an RPG Wizard with a gun and is fun and powerful against specific bosses. What holds Blair back is his fire elemental damage helps or hurts him in specific boss fights. Moreover, he is driven by Deadly Cuisine, and if you miss him, you lose much of his overall power. Lastly, his main resource-sustaining tool isn’t a projectile, so you must stand at the target to start the burning process. But Blair remains one of the best DPS builds and, with the right mods and weapon combo, can burst down many bosses.
7. Yujin
The best features for a Yujin character build in The First Descendant:
- Descendent Attribute: Non-Attribute
- Best Modules: Safe, Recovery, Psychological Victory, HP Amplification
- Best Weapon: Divine Punishment
- Transcendent Mod: Duty and Sacrifice
- Best Reactor: Materialized Singular
- External Component Set: Frozen Heart
What makes Yujin special is his ability to heal HP and debuff enemies. Yujin’s Restructure Serum ability gives a 10% damage increase debuff for five seconds and is stackable. Therefore, you can maintain high uptime by throwing the serum like a grenade. Attacking the target also heals nearby allies and helps with recovery. You want to build Yujin for the decreased cooldown to increase uptime and effectiveness. Moreover, Yujin can forgo shields and increase HP since he can restore it with skills.
Additionally, Yujin’s Duty and Sacrifice Transcendent Mod turns the skill into an instant use and healing over time skill. Therefore, you gain massive utility and have another mobile healing over time option. Everything in Yujin’s kit helps allies, though he lacks any sort of damage himself. Divine Punishment is the best weapon to use with Yujin due to the sheer amount of buffs you apply to allies.
The main downside to Yujin is that he’s entirely group-centric. Moreover, he doesn’t have an ultimate version and, with lesser base stats, can have weak survivability compared to others. However, if you build him right, everyone in the group will love Yujin.
6. Freyna
The best features for a Freyna character build in The First Descendant:
- Descendent Attribute: Toxic
- Best Modules: Maximum Power, Front Lines, Spear and Shield
- Transcendent Mod: Contagion
- Best Weapon: Fallen Hope
- Best Reactor: Toxic Mechanic
- External Component Set: Venom Essence
Freyna’s main strengths are her damage over time and AOE potential. Using Toxic Damage, she inflicts status effects on a variety of enemies. Moreover, there’s a specific weapon and external component set designed just for her: Fallen Hope Assault Rifle and Venom Essence. Freyna can be built to handle mob clear or bosses with various skills or weapon options giving her DPS flexibility. Obtain Contagion Transcendent Mod and increase your skill power with Maximum Power.
The major downside of Freyna is similar to Blair’s issues. She’s Toxic based and not useful in specific bosses. Moreover, she doesn’t have an instanced boss melter skill like Blair. Without an Ultimate version, she falls behind other DPS on our Top 10 Best Descendants in the Patch 1 list. Unlike Blair, she has a Defense Mechanism granting higher DEF and AOE damage when being attacked. This can be transformed with a mod to add group utility as well.
Freyna is one of the strongest DPS Descendants in the game, using DOT, AOE, and single target. However, there are more powerful choices on this list overall.
5. Viessa
The best features for a Viessa character build in The First Descendant:
- Descendent Attribute: Chill
- Best Modules: Focus on Chill, Front Lines, Battle of Stamina
- Transcendent Mod: Hypothermia
- Best Weapon: Enduring Legacy
- Best Reactor: Frozen Mechanics
- External Component Set: Polar Night
Viessa is the third-best DPS build in the First Descendant due to her Blizzard skill. Blizzard can single-handedly destroy a boss within seconds, making her one of the most powerful Descendants in the game. Being a starting character, her power shines at later levels when you can unlock Front Lines and Battle of Stamina mods. Furthermore, players at the end-game can pick up Enduring Legacy to increase the chill status effect or Hypothermia to change their passive. Hypothermia transcendent mod allows you to do damage over time with Ice Needles, giving you even more boss-nuking potential.
With a strong status effect of chill, high damage, and even mobility, it’s hard to rate Viessa this low. The major disgusting factor between her and Lepic is his passive skill, Close Call. This passive allows Lepic to be downed and survive for 6 seconds, then immediately recover half of his health. This one passive makes a massive difference in hard content where dying is likely. Viessa would rate higher on the Top 10 Builds for Patch 1 in The First Descendant if it weren’t for this.
4. Lepic
The best features for a Lepic character build in The First Descendant:
- Descendent Attribute: Fire
- Best Modules: Focus on Fire, Spear and Shield, Front Lines
- Transcendent Mod: Power Unit Change
- Best Weapon: Enduring Legacy
- Best Reactor: Burning Mechanics
- External Component Set: 2x Volcanic, 2x Battle Aesthetics Sensor
Lepic remains one of the best Descendants as a starter character because of his damage, skills, and ability to be a weapons platform or skill character. At the end of the game, the Power Unit Change transcendent mod allows Lepic to use Overkill to buff weapons. This gives him a unique advantage over other DPS Descdants who just use skills. However, his skills are ultra-powerful as well, as is his ability to spam his Overkill high DPS ability.
Another benefit of Lepic is he comes in the Ultimate Version and can be incredibly strong early or at the end of the game. His Close Call passives give you an “oh crap” moment every 5 minutes. Finally, all his skills are useful throughout the game, whether boss battles or moving. It could be a bias in liking the builds, but we rated Lepic highly for all the above reasons.
3. Bunny
The best features for a Bunny character build in The First Descendant:
- Descendent Attribute: Electric
- Best Modules: Battle of Stamina, Front Lines, Spear and Shield
- Transcendent Mod: High Voltage
- Best Weapon: Thunder Cage
- Best Reactor: Tingling Singularity
- External Component Set: Supernova
The third best build in the First Desceandnt is Bunny due to her speed, AOE damage, and fun factor. No other builds can buzz saw-through content like a Bunny. Using Electric damage and Thunder Cage weapon, you pair her with the High-Voltage Trascendant mod. This reduces the number of enemies hit to 3 but radically increases the damage and range. You turn the skill not only into an add-clearing tool but a boss melter as well.
The major issue with Bunny is survivability. Compared to Ajax and Gley, she falls behind unless relying on blazing speed. To make her more survivable, you need to sacrifice damage. Additionally, her fourth ability, Maximum Power, isn’t effective against bosses, so largely, your skills go to waste in Void Intercept Battles.
However, we recommend every player unlock Bunny and level her up at least to clear grinding content as quickly as possible.
2. Ajax
The best features for an Ajax character build in The First Descendant:
- Descendent Attribute: Non-Attribute
- Best Modules: Overwhelming HP, Stim Accelerant, Iron Will
- Transcendent Mod: Body Enhancement (selfish), Matrix Recomputation (group)
- Best Weapon: Secret Garden
- Best Reactor: Materialized Mechanic
- External Component Set: 2x Tomb Vanguard, 2x Annihilation
No other Descendant can match Ajax’s durability, survivability, and utility. Rather than built for offense, Ajax places Oribal Barrier and Hypercube to protect himself and his allies. The central theme of Ajax’s build is to increase your HP and DEF as much as possible because your barrier and bubble scale are effective off these stats. Moreover, Ajax can use one of two transcendent mods depending on his approach. Body Enhancement removes the enhanced versions of skills but scales DEF and Shields according to max HP. At the same time, Matrix Recomputation gives allies a buff to increase DEF by 50%!
Ajax can also use various weapons to help debuff enemies, like Secret Garden, an end-game machine gun rivaling The Tamer for damage and with an added debuff. Players can also use Python submachine guns and also debuff enemies. The major downside to Ajax is his weaker damage-based skills, and to make them powerful, you must forgo his strongest asset survivability.
Consider Ajax the second-best build in the First Descendants because he’s starting class, is easy to play, and makes boss battles a breeze.
1. Gley
The best features for a Gley character build in The First Descendant:
- Descendent Attribute: Non-Attribute
- Best Modules: HP Collector, Stim Accelerant, MP Conversion
- Transcendent Mod: Massive Sanguification
- Best Weapon: Vestigial Organ
- Best Reactor: Materialized Phase
- External Component Set: Annihilation Set
The best build in the First Descendant is Gley, using either rocket spam with Vestigial Organ or Massive Sanguification transcendent mods with Massacre. Gley is unique because it does not have shields; thus, you can use mods that lower shields for more MP, HP, or DEF. Moreover, you can use HP Collector to heal yourself with your skill Life Siphon. This gives you two ways to kill and heal, along with incredibly high base stats. Thus, you end up with Gley having 20,000 health, 50,000 DEF, and the ability to shoot limitlessly with any gun using Increased Sensory skill.
Currently, Gley is the world record holder for Devourer Hard Mode kill, completing this task in one second with an end-game sniper rifle. No build rivals her strength at end game. The issue with Gley is you need to not only unlock the Ultimate version to gain the base stats needed to pull off the builds but max out nearly all of her module sockets with Catalyst.
Therefore, she’s a “sweaty” end game with a high-skill, high-risk, high-reward character with a great upside but difficult to play. However, we rank her number 1 on our top Descendant Builds list in Patch 1 because nearly every instant boss kill you see is using Gley, and that’s not likely to change.
