Starfield Gameplay
Exploration
Starfield is a space exploration game set in the year 2330, which will include ship building and space combat along with the more typical Bethesda gameplay elements of questing, crafting, combat, and elaborate character creation.
Another major emphasis for the game will be exploration – Bethesda shocked many when they announced that there would be more than 1,000 planets which the player could travel to and investigate. And when visiting all of the planets, players will not be restricted to smaller spaces or certain cities or settlements. According to Game Director Todd Howard, players will be able to land anywhere on a planet’s surface.
And not just this system, but over 100 systems, over 1,000 planets. All open, for you to explore.
Combat
Starfield will actually have two different modes of combat. The first is the usual player combat. Starfield is a first person or third person shooter, with characters in a science fiction setting primarily using guns and explosives as their weapons of choice. Through the crafting and research systems you be able to craft and upgrade your weapons and gear, along with stregthening food and drink to take on your adventures.
The second type of combat will be starship combat. When making upgrades to their starships, players should keep in mind that the vast depths of space aren’t just some empty neutral zone in Starfield. Whether it’s space pirates, corporations, or military groups, there will always be the possibility of running into an unfriendly opponent in the sky. Space combat will likely be a necessary part of the gameplay, if you wish to arrive safely to your next destination.

Story
The main story in Starfield centers around the Constellation faction, “the last group of space explorers,” who are searching for pieces of an ancient alien artifact in hopes that assembling it will answer some of humanities biggest questions: Why are we here? What’s next?
The Crafting and Research systems will enable you to create and upgrade weapons and gear. It will also provide an avenue for the player to create new outposts on visited planets and moons. Outposts will likely serve as safe bases and landing sites. There the player and crew can rest, repair and refuel before traveling out into space again. They can also serve as a way to enable the player to travel further into space. So, that a network of outposts stretching to the outer limits of the universe could keep the player within a reasonable safe range of refueling or rescue.
The Character Creation system will provide the usual methods of customizing your character’s physical shape and looks. There will also be special tabs where you will select a unique Background and up to three Traits for your character. These things will all influence gameplay in some way. For example, the Kid’s Stuff trait means your character has living parents. It also means that 10% of all earned income will be sent to family – though the overall extent is not yet known.
