The flame altar is undoubtedly the most essential item, and strengthening your flame is a crucial mechanic in Enshrouded. Let’s examine why you should upgrade the altar, what you will get, and what you need to reach the maximum level of your flame.
How to Upgrade the Flame Altar in Enshrouded
There are two types of Flame Atar Upgrades. By Strengthening your flame, your character receives a different bonus and increases the time you can stay in the Shroud. To strengthen your flame altar, you will need an array of resources.
Secondly, you can upgrade your Flame Altar with Shroud Cores to increase your home base size to create truly epic builds.
In Enshrouded, the flame gives your character their abilities, and they are called Flameborn. Your goal in the game is to survive the shroud and tend to the flame, which separates you from the ancients who led the world to this catastrophic state.
All Strenghting the Flame Altar Upgrades
You will need various resources each time you want to strengthen your flame to the next level. The higher levels require more advanced items, plants, metals, etc. Here are all the upgrades:

For the last level, 6 altar upgrade to strengthen your flame in Enshrouded, you will need the following:

Flame Altar Upgrades
Flame Altar Upgrades are cheaper and only expand the area where you can build. There are only three upgrades that will grant you a bigger building space. Those are from smallest to highest: 40x40x40, 80x80x80, and 120x120x120.
First is the 40x40x40 area, the default space when building your first altar. The second upgrade costs only one Shroud core, and the third costs five Shroud cores.
However, it’s possible that when the game is officially released, and more content is added to Enshrouded, there will be more flame altar upgrades and further strengthening the flame levels. The Keen Games Studio works in a snowy area for Enshrouded, so it’s a highly possible scenario.
Why Flame Altar is Important
The flame altar and the strength of your flame extend the time you can spend in the shroud and, more importantly, allow you to access higher-level areas. Typically, the save-to-enter shroud is blue; however, if the fog is red, your character will die instantly if they enter it. The solution is to strengthen the flame, allowing you to explore further and for a longer time.
Among other benefits, you can notice a buff to your character attributes, increasing damage, stamina, and survivability.
